Look thee on her face, supplicant. Thy prayer has been answered. Flesh sundered has been made whole.

The Lady of Bliss

Summary

✶ The Warrior of Light, accompanied by Alisaie, Alphinaud and Lyse, meet with an Ananta woman - recognizably a lamia - named Vajra. She plans to take them to a place named Djanan Qhat, where they hope to meet someone or something known as Sri Lakshmi. A short journey leads them to a hidden aetheryte, which transports the party deeper into an underground cavern.

✶ The party arrive to discover a group of Ananta standing before an altar, from which the figure of a beautiful woman in elaborate robes gazes down at them: this is Lakshmi, the mother goddess of the Ananta, now incarnated as a Primal.

✶ Another Ananta, a young girl named Anamika, stands blank-eyed before the worshippers as her mother Shanti, the woman wresponsible for the Primal's summoning, beseeches Lakshmi to tell her why she does not recognize her. Calmly, Lakshmi explains that she has already answered Shanti's prayer: her daughter, who was murdered by the Garlean soldiers holding her hostage, has been returned to life, but only bodily. It is not within her power to return the girl's soul.

✶ Appalled at Anamika's condition, Alisaie steps forward, demanding to know if Shanti and her followers can now see Lakshmi's promises for the empty blandishments they are. Alphinaud tries to call her back, but she refuses to stand down - there might still be a chance to prevent another tragedy from unfolding. Though Shanti believes she must be here for bloodshed, Alisaie tries to reason with her: though she understands her feelings only too keenly, summoning a Primal will only make matters worse. She begs her to remember her daughter as she was, instead of clinging to the empty shell Lakshmi has resurrected.

✶ Their cover well and truly blown, Lyse, Alphinaud and the Warrior of Light reveal themselves. They entreat Shanti to see sense, explaining that the Primal will demand constant sacrifices of them. Lakshmi, however, simply claims it is far better to live in the dreams she weaves than face ugly reality.

✶ Lakshmi attacks the group, bombarding them with balls of light intended to bind them to her will. Alphinaud tackles Alisaie to the ground and out of the path of her first attack, but they aren't quick enough to evade the next blast. The Warrior of Light steps forward to save them both, holding out one hand to shield them. The assembled Ananta, already under her sway, are not so fortunate. Lakshmi declares the Ananta far more worthy of her grace than the Warrior of Light and their party, and orders them away.

✶ Fleeing the caverns, Alisaie tells the Warrior of Light that she knows her actions were foolish, but she still felt she had to at least try. She tells them that while they confront Lakshmi, the rest of the group will be destroying the Ananta's supply of crystals: something like this will not happen again.

Notes

✶ The player-character Warrior of Light, who accompanies Alisaie, is seen as a humanoid shape made up of blinding white light surrounded by a rainbow corona, of indeterminate age, race and gender. None of their individual features are discernible, and though they can be seen to be speaking their voice cannot be made out.

✶ Though character names are used in the summary for the sake of comprehension, any viewers watching the memory will find the Warrior of Light's to be inaudible.
