✶ imeeji: memory
Apr. 9th, 2021 03:45 am➤ Part 1
I've been reminded again and again of how little I can change about this world. And I've come to know the sorrow of parting all too well.
Prelude in Violet
Summary
✶ It's evening in the port city of Limsa Lominsa, where Alisaie and the Warrior of Light are waiting outside of a military barracks for a friend, Ga Bu. He has been taken in by members of the garrison stationed there, and Alisaie tells the Warrior of Light that she endeavours to visit him as often as she can. Now an unspecified tragedy has befallen the pair's friends, making her even more mindful of the need to reach out.
✶ Ga Bu turns out to be a tiny, long-tailed, mole-like creature in full armor - possibly a child, given his small size.
✶ A soldier from the barracks accompanies him - they have taken him in, for a reason that is not made clear. Ga Bu is twitchy and unresponsive, which she says is sadly typical. Alisaie talks warmly and familiarly to him, saying she's proud he's still fighting, and apologizes for failing to have brought Alphinaud to visit.
✶ Alisaie now addresses the Warrior of Light, reminding them of another evening the three spent together. She confesses that she was feeling pretty low that night, but had still been able to take comfort in the knowledge that she could always reach out to Alphinaud, and to her other friends: this is not the case now.
✶ She reflects on the things she's seen and done since coming to Eorzea, and how powerless she often feels in the face of them. There's simply too much she can't do anything to change, she's found the constant reminder of her own limitations difficult to deal with, and has said goodbye to enough friends now that she's sadly familiar with it - but that watching helplessly as the people she cares for are struck down before her is unbearable.
✶ The Warrior of Light reassures Alisaie, telling her they are still by her side. This raises her spirits, and she tells them she doesn't know what she'd do without them.
✶ Deciding she is tired of brooding, Alisaie tells the Warrior of Light that the time has come to move on. She declares that the two of them have friends to save - something Ga Bu, though he remains as silent and withdrawn as ever, appears to take note of. The pair bid him farewell and, after seeing him safely back into the care of his protectors in the Maelstrom barracks, head back out from the city to face whatever awaits them back at home.
Notes
✶ The player-character Warrior of Light, who accompanies Alisaie, is seen as a humanoid shape made up of blinding white light surrounded by a rainbow corona, of indeterminate age, race and gender. None of their individual features are discernible, and though they can be seen to be speaking their voice cannot be made out.
✶ Though character names are used in the summary for the sake of comprehension, viewers watching the memory will find all names aside from Alisaie's, Alphinaud's, and Ga Bu's are inaudible, having been replaced by static.
✶ The names of all locations and organizations are likewise inaudible.
